Description
The Material Development unit develops new materials for packaging applications with special focus on cellulose based renewable materials to replace plastics and aluminum. The team also produces demonstrators of the developed materials in its potential applications. Members in the team are working in or managing projects within the whole scope of developing and introducing new material to the market. The team is also a key contact point for external R&D providers in the operational field of the team as well as providing services to other Stora Enso units within the competences of the team.
Your responsibility will be to manage the R&D unit, Material Development, in order to allocate the department resources and competencies such as lab, pilot or production unit trials to produce base materials for demonstrators and product prototypes as well as for excellence in project handling.
You will be a member of R&D Management Team and support the creation of R&D contracts with strategic R&D partners and customers. You will be responsible of mapping the Research Area regarding external R&D and take part in steering groups in relevant internal and external forums.

Location: Karlstad research center, Karlstad Sweden
Schedule: Full time, temporary position from May to Dec 2017
Organization: Innovation and R&D, Consumer boards

Reports to the Head of R&D, Innovation and R&D, Consumer Boards.

Qualifications
To be able to handle the responsibility's we see that you have 7 years' experience in demanding R&D positions including Management in the pulp and paper industry. Experience in larger projects and/or line management is a merit.
You have a MSc education or corresponding knowledge. A PhD degree in a key competence is regarded as a merit.
For the position you need good knowledge of Stora Enso products, its processing, cost-base and end-use. Good analytical skills. Maintain and develop a world-wide network in pulp and paper R&D.
You have good communications skills and share relevant information with other resource providers, internal stakeholders and customers. You are fluent in English, orally and in writing.

As a person you like to develop ideas for improvement of existing, and development of new, packaging material products and related production processes in line with the Divisional R&D Agenda and Strategy.
