Department of Ecology
At the Department of Ecology in Uppsala we conduct research for sustainable forest and agricultural production, and for efficient biological conservation. We study the influence of land use and climate change on animals, plants, soil nutrient status, and greenhouse gas balances. Solutions are sought that will mitigate climate change, preserve threatened species, benefit biological diversity and ecosystem services, and control pests in forests and agricultural landscapes as well as in urban areas.
Duties:
Develop models for Swedish national monitoring data on multiple bird species and write scientific papers.
Qualifications:
Applicants should hold a PhD in Ecology. Experience in analysing bird count monitoring data, using multi-species models and non-linear time series analyses, and good programming skills in R are required. Documented skills in scientific writing within the subject area will be given emphasis in the evaluation. Emphasis will also be placed on personal qualities such as collaborative skills as well as a demonstrated abililty to independently initiate, conduct, and complete research projects. Good skills in communicating in English are required.
The position is meant for a junior researcher, and candidates should have a PhD degree that is three years old at most.
