Would you like to contribute to the safe use of medicines globally? We are looking for a Terminology Specialist to join our WHODrug Content Management & Support Team. You will help maintain the WHODrug drug dictionary by validating and classifying drug information.
Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) is a centre for international service and scientific research in the field of pharmacovigilance. We are the WHO Collaborating Centre for International Drug Monitoring, and manage the technical and operational aspects of the WHO Programme for International Drug Monitoring since 1978.
As an independent, non-profit foundation, we support the World Health Organization, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders who share our vision of advancing medicines safety. Through research and development of new scientific methods, we explore the benefits and harms of medicines for patients, and offer products and services used by health authorities and the pharmaceutical industry worldwide.
What will you do
As a Terminology specialist you will be a part of the WHODrug Content Management and Support team at our office, centrally located in Uppsala. The team is made up of health professionals with advanced education in the science of pharmacy. The section is involved in development and maintenance of the WHODrug portfolio and ensures highest quality standards in order to fulfil compliance with regulations, customer expectations and good information management.
We are looking for a Terminology Specialist with the focus on one of our main products, WHODrug Global Chinese. Your main responsibilities as a Terminology Specialist are to validate and classify drug information to ensure the completeness, accuracy, and consistency of the data so that it meets the quality standards expected for WHODrug. This is done using our internal tools and systems as well as external references with the purpose to find information about correct trade names, MAH information, identifying substances and ATC assignments. Apart from validating drug information the work also includes coding of reported drugs in ICSR:s and reaction coding. Another responsibility as Terminology Specialist within the team is to support WHODrug users with matters regarding WHODrug Global Chinese and specific customer requests for new drugs.

Your qualifications
Do you have a MSc in Pharmacy, a broad knowledge of medicinal products as well as excellent written and oral skills in English and Chinese?
It is an advantage if you also have:
Experience of WHODrug and classification of medical products including ATC classification
Knowledge about Chinese products and TCMs
Experience in performing email support
