Test Engineer

Test Engineer

Arbetsbeskrivning

We are looking for a dedicated electrochemical test engineer to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is a part of our excellent cell simulation team based in Västerås. By joining us, you will be a key player in
in supporting the design of the next generation of lithium-ion batteries and contribute to building one of the first large scale European battery factories.
About the job
At Northvolt, your responsibilities will include preparing high quality samples (coin and three-electrode cells) and developing electrochemical test methodology for characterizing current and next-generation electrode and electrolyte materials. Your role will also involve supporting the simulation team with planning appropriate experiments and data analysis for the estimation of parameters in our electrochemical models (e.g. exchange current densities, diffusion coefficients, electrolyte conductivity etc). You will also be responsible for improving and expanding our coin cell testing infrastructure if needed.
About the team
The cell-level simulation team is based in Västerås, Sweden. The team consists of five dedicated simulation engineers and is set to expand to nine within the next year. We have divided the team into electrical, electrochemical, thermal, and mechanical specializations but we collaborate regularly to tackle the multi-physics nature of problems in lithium-ion batteries. With this position, we are looking to extend our electrochemical simulation capabilities to meet the high demand for this topic.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
High quality cell sample preparation (full/half/symmetric coin, 3-electrode cells).
Plan and execute advanced electrochemical characterization of electrode and electrolyte material.
Analyse and process experimental data for model parameter estimation.
Plan needed improvements and expansions to enhance in-house electrochemical characterization capabilities to meet project schedule, budget, and specifications.

The person we are looking for is flexible, curious and eager to learn. You will get the chance to have a real impact on our success story in Sweden (to start with) and see the results of your work. Our organization values great self-discipline and a natural talent to make things happen. Qualities that we cherish are sense of quality, friendliness, and grit.
Northvolt is an equal opportunity employer. We're a diverse group of individuals, united by a common mission, who recognize that while our actions as individuals have a role to play in driving Northvolt towards its goals, we always seek to move forward as a team. We offer you an open and welcoming atmosphere where we win as a team – and fail as a team. Northvolt is growing at the speed of light and we are a strong believer in internal career development.
