Test engineer with interest in crash safety

Test engineer with interest in crash safety

Arbetsbeskrivning

Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.

Crash safety is an important property of our vehicles. In addition to protecting the occupants, the transition to a sustainable transport system with alternative fuels gives new challenges in the area of crash safety. The Mechanical Testing group is a part of the Cab Body and Trim section in the cab development department and works both with full-scale crash tests and with component testing on the cab. The group currently consists of 8 persons divided into a manager, 5 test engineers, and 2 mechanics. To be able to cope with electrification and other exciting projects that are underway we are now looking for another test engineer who will primarily work with crash testing.  So if you think the work with crash safety sounds interesting, take the opportunity and apply!

Your work assignment
As a test leader, you will be responsible for tests from component and subsystem level up to crash tests of complete vehicles. You will work closely with our other test leaders, our mechanics and the section's simulation group. It is also a close collaboration with the design groups as well as the external test institutes we use. The work offers both variety and challenges and includes a mix of theory and practice. As a test leader, you will work with the entire process from planning and preparation of the test to the execution of the tests and analysing and documentation of the results. Contributing to the development of our methods and processes is also a natural part of the work. Since some of our tests are carried out at external test institutes, the work may involve travel both in Sweden and in Europe.

Your profile

• Bachelor or Master of Science in Mechanical engineering or similar
• You have experience in testing, simulation, design, or project management
• As a person, you are easy to collaborate with and are having attention to details
• You appreciate a varied and challenging job
• You express yourself well in speech and writing in English

 Meritorious

• Experience in crash testing
• Experience in the development and/or testing of batteries
• Knowledge of biomechanics
• Experience in crash simulation
• Experience in project management
