Crash Analysis Engineer

The Safety Analysis section is a part of Volvo Cars Safety Centre (VCSC) which drives the development of the Volvo core value Safety to build the world's safest cars. We cover the areas of both passive and active safety and have state-of-the-art facilities and equipment e.g. the unique crash test laboratory. Within VCSC there are functions for both strategic safety and requirement development, traffic accident research and safety analysis within both testing and CAE. Development work is performed in close collaboration with our internal design departments and external suppliers in a dynamic and international environment. The section Safety Analysis consist of three different analysis groups each with their own CAE and test Analysis engineers, Side Impact & Pedestrian, Rear Impact & Customer Testing and Frontal Impact.
As Crash Analysis Engineer you will set up the test plan and be responsible for the prerequisites for test execution in the test lab. You will perform the analysis work based on the test results and provide an analysis report with recommendations to the customers. As an analysis engineer you will work in close cooperation to the test lab personal, the Safety CAE engineers in the group, the Safety attribute leaders and the design teams. You will be part of a team consisting of both test analysis and CAE competences.
Main responsibilities
* Responsible for test setup according to decided test method and customer needs
* Perform component, sub-system, sled and full-scale testing
* Responsible for the analysis work based on test results from complete vehicle, system or component testing
* Hold analysis meetings and provide an analysis report including recommendations, in close cooperation with Safety CAE, Safety attribute leaders and the design teams
* Be engaged in cross-functional teams in vehicle projects, as representative for safety analysis
* Support external customers test execution and the delivery of test data
Required qualifications
* MSc in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience
* Good analytical competence
* Fluent in English, written and spoken
* High ability to work in team as well as keeping deadlines as individual
* Experience from Safety related work, in test execution and analysis work is meritorious
* Experience of crash testing at component, sub-system of complete vehicle level, including drop-tower, sled and / or full-scale complete vehicle testing is an advantage
* In-depth experience of the Volvo cars development process and experience of Volvo cars crash analysis software tool Diadem is meritorious
