About us
RISE Research Institutes of Sweden recruits a yarn specialist in the fiber development and textile testing team in Mölndal, Sweden.

Our operations in Mölndal have Sweden´s largest laboratory for fiber development. Here we create the fiber materials of the future, with a strong focus on functionality, sustainability, and resource efficiency. Our team develops and offers expertise, manufacturing methods and material analyses throughout the value chain from raw material to testing of the end product. You will be an important team player in a committed unit with cutting-edge expertise, who values working in close collaboration within the team and with our customers and partners.

About the position
With us, you will collaborate in research projects as well as applied research and development assignments with industrial customers. Together with the teams, you will work towards our goal to be the first choice in Europe as innovation partner in the field of sustainable fiber-based materials. This by being actively updated on research and technology and industry needs, as well as identifying new solutions and opportunities in process and materials development.

The fiber development team develops new types of fibers through solution spinning and melt spinning. You will have an important role as the link between filament production and downstream textile operations such as crimping, cutting, carding, yarn spinning and fabric production. As our yarn specialist you will be responsible for investigating how newly developed fibers behave in yarn production operations and to give relevant feedback to the team and our customers for further developments.

Important tasks in the role are:

- Lead and develop the technical work within yarn development in projects and assignments
- Ideation and innovation together with the team, partners and customers
- Experimental work (focus operations are carding, ring spinning, open-end spinning)
- Documentation and reporting
- Equipment development and maintenance

Who are you?
We are looking for you who have an extensive knowledge and knowhow within yarn manufacturing. You have a higher education in the field, and/or several years of industrial experience. You have a background working with product or materials development. A deep understanding of how filament properties effects downstream textile operations is essential. You combine practical and technical skills with creative thinking to develop and optimize process solutions. You can express yourself well in both speech and writing in English. As a person, you are enterprising and driven with good ability to work independently as well as in teams.
