The department of Biomedical Sciences and Veterinary Public Health (BVF) is part of the Faculty of Veterinary medicine and Animal science. BVF conducts research and education in pathology, pharmacology, toxicology, immunology, bacteriology, virology, parasitology, epizootology and food safety. The toxicology unit at BVF is a strong research section working with environmental toxicology, toxicological food safety and molecular toxicology (https://www.slu.se/en/departments/biomedical-sciences-veterinary-public-health/research-at-bvf/toxikology/).
Duties:
The environmental toxicology group at BVF is seeking a researcher (postdoc) that will work with assessment of chemical mixture toxicity. The researcher will be part of the FORMAS funded project RiskMix – “Risk modeling of mixtures of endocrine disrupting chemicals relevant to human exposure, using zebrafish embryo as model organism” The experimental work will include toxicity testing of human relevant complex chemical mixtures using adult zebrafish and embryos. Specific focus will be on adverse effects, internal exposure concentrations for physiological based toxicokinetics, gene expression and complex mixture toxicity modeling. See link for project description: (www.aces.su.se/riskmix/). We expect the researcher to independently and actively drive the toxicity testing part in the RiskMix project. The researcher is expected to design follow-up experiments, coordinate work and analyze data, write scientific papers in collaboration with the project team, as well as assist in supervision of students. Qualifications:
We are looking for a highly motivated researcher (postdoc) with a PhD in environmental toxicology or equivalent field of science. Documented experience in toxicity studies with zebrafish and statistical analyses are required. Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral, are required. Experience in molecular genetic analysis, developmental biology, and behavioral assessment, as well as knowledge in environmental chemistry and fulfilled course in laboratory animal science is meriting.
