About the position
We are looking for a highly skilled in materials science & engineering to join us and lead initiatives in materials and structures for extreme environments.

As a Thermal Spray Materials Expert – You will work at the forefront of material development to drive innovation, improve performance, and contribute to the success of our product development projects. you will conduct applied research & product development on Carbide-based Metal Matrix Composites (MMC) materials & advanced ceramic materials for high-temperature applications including Thermal Barrier Coatings (TBCs) and Environmental Barrier Coatings (EBCs). The focus will be on coating material compositions, structures, and powder manufacturing processes development, through process-microstructure-property relationships.

Key Responsibilities:


• Conduct product development and support strategic growth initiatives in thermal spray products such as Carbide-based MMCs, TBCs, EBCs, metals & alloys.  
• Manage product development projects through the stage gate process, identifying and adhering to timelines and communicating on the critical project metrics.
• Develop manufacturing processes for new and existing thermal spray materials at Pilot-scale and production relevant environment. The focus will be on coating material composition, structure, and manufacturing process development through process-microstructure-property relationships.
• Identify material trends in advanced ceramics, metals & alloys for thermal spray and develop product roadmaps.
• Deliver effective presentations, reports, publications to Product Development department and professional societies.

Your profile
We are seeking candidates with either a PhD in Materials Science & Engineering, Ceramics Engineering, or an MSc. degree in Materials Science & Engineering, Ceramics Engineering, or a related field, accompanied by a minimum of five years of professional experience.

Desired qualifications for candidates include:


• Experience in thermal spray product development.
• Demonstrated technical breadth and depth in materials science.
• Strong fundamental knowledge in thermodynamics & kinetics.
• Experience in the utilization of advanced characterization techniques to understand process, microstructure, and performance relationships of novel thermal spray coating products.
• Ability to self-organize and work with the minimum of supervision to meet deadlines.
• Project management experience & ability to effectively work with multiple levels of the organization to deliver results or goals on time in a global team environment.
• Ability to lead a product development project team.
• Exceptional English communication skills (both verbal and written) and good analytical skills.

This position is available in either Sweden or Germany.
