About the position
We are looking for a skilled professional in Materials Science & Engineering to join us and drive initiatives in materials and structures for extreme environments.
As a a Product Development Engineer– You will work at the forefront of product development to drive innovation, improve performance, and contribute to the success of our product development projects. You will conduct applied research & product development on metals & alloys, Carbide-based Metal Matrix Composites (MMC) materials & advanced ceramic materials for high-temperature applications including Thermal Barrier Coatings (TBCs) and Environmental Barrier Coatings (EBCs). The focus will be on coating material compositions, structures, and powder manufacturing processes, through process-microstructure-property relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct product development and support strategic growth initiatives in products such as Carbide-based MMCs, TBCs, EBCs, metals & alloys.
• Participate in product development projects through the stage gate process, identifying and adhering to timelines and communicating on the critical project metrics.
• Create understanding of manufacturing processes impact on new and existing products at Pilot-scale and production relevant environment. The focus will be on coating material composition, structure, and manufacturing process through process-microstructure-property relationships.
• Identify material trends in advanced ceramics, metals & alloys and develop product roadmaps.
• Deliver effective presentations, reports, publications to Product Development department.
Your profile
We are seeking candidates with either a PhD in Materials Science & Engineering, Ceramics Engineering, or an MSc. degree in Materials Science & Engineering, Ceramics Engineering, or a related field.
Desired qualifications for candidates include:
• Demonstrated technical breadth and depth in materials science.
• Fundamental knowledge in thermodynamics & kinetics.
• Fundamental knowledge in the utilization of advanced characterization techniques (SEM, DTA, XRD, LOM, etc.) to understand process, microstructure, and performance relationships of products.
• Ability to self-organize and work with the supervision to meet deadlines.
• Exceptional English communication skills (both verbal and written) and good analytical skills.
This position is available in either Sweden or Germany.
