Thesis : Case Study on Crossmembers

Position Description
Thesis work at Volvo Group Purchasing: Business analysis on crossmembers segment to find standardization opportunities and to set direct buy contracts with raw material suppliers and also introduce fossil free material.


Background of thesis project
Crossmembers are key segment we are assembling in every trucks all around the world.
Every brands, every ranges are using different crossmembers and the purpose of the project is to map the business to find standardization opportunities (raw material, grade, thickness, surface treatment…).
By doing this business mapping, our target is also to know the global supply chain flow and especially what the suppliers are buying, to which suppliers, with which prices.
Behind that, we want to see if we can set direct buy contracts between crossmembers suppliers and our raw material suppliers (with conditions negotiated by us) and especially with those who are engaged in fossil free steel.
