Background
The transport industry is developing in a higher pace than ever before and we at Volvo Group want to shape the future of transportation. We are committed to the ambitions and climate change goals of the Paris Agreement. And we believe that now is the time to accelerate opportunities of circular economy and sustainability. Also, we are aware that a new era is here. Technologies such as big data, automation and artificial intelligence are changing the way we look at manufacturing and logistics.

A stock management concept was created by Volvo, where the spare parts are supplied to our 4000 dealers around the globe through an automated inventory concept, which objective is to provide excellent customer satisfaction, through cost efficiency, healthy stock, operational excellence, and world class availability.
When the spare parts distributed to our dealers were not used our customers have the option of returning them, which generates a cost for the supply chain.
Thesis questions and expected outcome
The objective of the thesis is to evaluate measurements for the buybacks, and how data driven decisions could help to reduce the costs of them. We believe that having KPIs, measurements and/or data analytics to support decisions could help us to reduce the buybacks and then to reduce supply chain costs.
