Job description
Do you have experience with biomolecules and nanoparticle-based drug delivery? Are you passionate about working on new formulations from design to in vitro and in vivo testing? Then you are the candidate that we are looking for!
Pharmaceutical Sciences at AstraZeneca delivers the therapies of the future through scientific leadership in drug delivery, design of synthetic routes, and manufacturing of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) and drug products. Our portfolio of projects spans from traditional small molecules, peptides, oligonucleotides to RNA based therapeutics across AstraZeneca’s therapy areas. Advanced Drug Delivery (ADD) resides within Pharmaceutical Sciences with a mission to provide novel products to AstraZeneca’s clinical pipeline.
Responsibilities
The position is open as a 60 credit Master’s thesis project or an internship covering a period of 9 months. You will be supervised by a senior employee and take part in activities around the development of novel nanoparticle formulations for tissue-specific delivery of RNA. The position is lab-based and requires a hands on mentality where creative problem solving skills and flexibility to work with a broad amount of techniques is a must:
Formulation of RNA therapeutics and subsequent analysis.
Establish separation methods for nanoparticle purification.
Design cell-based assays.
Conduct in vitro experiments to assess the performance of formulations.
Generate, evaluate and report data clearly and reliably.
Ensure that own work and the work of others is performed in accordance with appropriate Safety, Health & Environment (SHE), quality, and compliance standards.
Qualifications
Essential Requirements
BSc in a relevant field such as Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology and Biochemistry.
Experience working with biomolecules and a drive to explore other new modalities.
Ability to communicate and write proficiently in English.
Desirable Requirements
MSc in a relevant field such as Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology and Biochemistry.
Work experience in industry focusing on formulations and/or delivery systems (1-2 years).
Experience in working with cell culture and in vitro screening of novel formulations
