Background of thesis project
Some of Volvo Penta´s customers having diesel aquamatic driveline have observed that our driveline's has a somewhat higher sound or noise level compared to the competitor outboards in the same power range.
This is especially evident at idle, maneuverings in the harbor or at low speed.
Suitable background
You should possess these qualifications:
Master student in any of the following fields

Mechanical Engineering

Knowledge in 3D cad program

Investigate possible sound/noise enhancements/improvements on Volvo Penta´s marine aquamatic diesel drivelines.
The goal for Volvo Penta are to have a lower precepted noise/sound level than the competitor outboard engines on our diesel aquamatic drivelines.
The goal of the thesis is to develop technical & feasible solutions for improving the sound/noise level in the physical application and present the best solution out of a environmental, economical & technical perspective.
