Thesis Work: Creating Predictive Data for Manual and Semi-Autonomous Solutions
Volvo has already started its journey towards an autonomous and electrified society. Interesting technologies have risen from this work which could also benefit today’s solutions. This thesis work aims to set the scene for current initiatives by providing the data needed to run functionality of the future in our current conventional and electrified trucks.

The purpose of this thesis work is to evaluate and conclude which possibilities exists and are feasible to use to compute and store data input in an ECU designed for automotive solutions. The challenge will be to find a solution that fit with current sensors and ECUs and allows for adaptation of the data in real time based on the inputs.
The exact goals of the project are to be defined as the thesis starts, but a preliminary list of goals include:
Study the state of the art literature on sensor fusion and memory efficient data storing
Investigate and conclude possible ways to describe and store vehicle state and the surroundings of the vehicle while driving
Implement and test the solution with one or a few functions online in vehicle in a confined environment

To be successful in this Thesis work we hope you have studied, Systems, Control and Mechatronics, Data Science, Mechanical engineering, Physics or similar. No previous experience with the automotive industry is needed but seen as a merit. The thesis work is recommended for two students as master thesis.
