Job description
In vivo CRISPR screening using a customized barcoded library
The Genome Engineering laboratory at the AstraZeneca, Gothenburg, is looking for a Master student to participate in a project to design and use a customized barcoded CRISPR library for in vivo screens.
Are you passionate about the Nobel-prize winning science of genome-editing and its aplications to study human disease. Would you like to apply your expertise to impact the oncology studies in a company that follows the science and turns ideas into life changing medicines? Then AstraZeneca might be of interest to you!
Responsibilities
Business area
Genome Engineering, Oncology, Functional Genomics, CRISPR
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Genome-sequencing has catalogued somatic genomic alterations in human diseases. However, identification of these mutations does not reveal their functional importance. CRISPR-Cas9 screenings are used to study the function of genes at large scale. During this master thesis, you will be involved in designing and cloning a customized barcoded guide RNA library for CRISPR-Cas screening. Such library will be used for drug resistance screening for oncology applications. During the project you will be exposed to the state of the art molecular biology techniques such as library cloning, cell culture and next generation sequencing.
Qualifications
Essential Requirements
Candidate must be pursuing a master degree in any branch of biological sciences
Highly motivated and strong interest in the application of genome engineering in curing the human diseases
Knowledge of molecular biology techniques, cell culture and basic understanding of CRISPR-Cas
Desirable Requirements
Working knowledge of computer softwares like microsoft office
