Thesis work: Manufacturability Assessment Using Imaging and AI

Arbetsbeskrivning

Job description
Automated, Small-Scale Powder Manufacturability Assessment Using Particle Imaging and Artificial Intelligence.

If you’re inspired by the possibilities of science to make a difference and ready to discover what you can do – join us!

Thesis type: 30 credits
Project start: August 2023
Student location: On Site, Gothenburg Sweden

This placement will explore the implementation and use of imaging in combination with new digital methods and artificial intelligence to assess material manufacturability and performance at an early stage in the drug product development. It links into an existing collaboration with one of our external academic partners who developed new deep learning models for powder manufacturability prediction from particle images. In this role, you will combine experimental work with digital technologies to gain an understanding of critical material attributes linked to physical particle properties. The placement will help us to drive and further improve these existing capabilities. The successful completing of this work package will provide a meaningful, direct contribution for future OPD development projects, especially those considered for Continuous Direct Compression.

At AstraZeneca, all of our employees make a difference to patients’ lives every day. We operate in more than 100 countries around the world and are one of Sweden’s most important export companies.

Randstad Life Sciences is collaborating with AstraZeneca in this recruitment process. Please send your application in English and we only accept applications through Randstad’s website, please apply at www.randstad.se.

Deadline for application: 2023-04-16, selection and interviews will be ongoing. The position may be filled before the last day of application, therefore, apply as soon as possible. If you have questions, please contact Malin, malin.fridholm@randstad.se.

For us, it is important that all competence and skills in the labor market are utilized. We welcome all applicants and strive for diversity.

Responsibilities
In this role, you will combine experimental work with digital technologies to gain an understanding of critical material attributes linked to physical particle properties. The placement will help us to drive and further improve these existing capabilities. The successful completing of this work package will provide a meaningful, direct contribution for future OPD development projects, especially those considered for Continuous Direct Compression.

Qualifications
This placement offers in-depth insights into Materials Science characterization techniques with a strong focus on state-of-the-art imaging platforms (automated light microscopy and Scanning Electron Microscopy) and methods to assess material manufacturability. Opportunities to explore and gain experience in combining experimental characterization with new digital technology (computer vision, machine learning and deep learning) to improve and accelerate data analysis and interpretation.
