POSITION SUMMARY:
The Metallurgist is part of the Advanced Engineering (AE) department, within the R&D organization at Group level.
He/she Metallurgist brings expertise in the material laboratory to conduct metallographic analysis, and maintain and improve the analysis methods and associated tools.
He/she also participates in the development of new material standards, test or analysis methods, in collaboration with relevant departments inside TitanX and with external partners, suppliers, universities and laboratories.
Projects may contain a certain amount of research, new developments or new technologies applied to TitanX products, where the Metallurgist will need to acquire and develop new skills through training, OJT and own research. When improvements are needed for a given method, the work will be performed as a project for which the Metallurgist will act as lead investigator, in parallel to regular customer application engineering project work and support.
A regional materials development plan will be developed and maintained, within the frame of the global Technology Development Plan, to continuously improve available materials, knowledge, data, test and analysis methods and standards pertaining to the metallic materials used within TitanX.
Besides project-related activities, the Metallurgist performs generic department activities such as continuous improvement, benchmarking, technology-watch and training in his/her fields of competence, in particular when new methods are being introduced in the standard toolbox.
REQUIREMENT PROFILE:
- Minimum Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at university or engineering school with focus on Metallurgy or Material Science
- 10 years practical experience in aluminium material development for automotive components, preferably rolled aluminium
- Working knowledge of brazing processes, preferably CAB
- Presentation and report skills in MS Office
- Competences in Research & Development and Project Management
- Can fluently communicate in English, both in speech and in written. Swedish is a plus.
The position is based at our site in Mjällby, Sweden. Swedish or European working permit is an advantage. We also encourage and welcome female candidates.
