TOOL DEVELOPER

LET’S TALK ABOUT YOU

Your profile

You are an experienced tool developer with minimum 5 years experience in developing design calculation tools. You are at an advanced level in C#  / .net programming and have good competence in OpenGL (OpenTK), LINQ, WPFand Git as code development platform.

The tools you will support and develop require a strong background in mathematics (numerical methods, linear and non-linear problems) but also basic understanding of physics and fluid mechanics, heat transfer and thermodynamic processes.

You need to be fluent in English, both verbally and in writing. You probably have a M.Sc. or Ph.D. with focus on programming, software development with interest in physical problems or alternatively, M.Sc. or Civilingenjör with focus on fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermodynamics with strong competence in programming.

You have a strong customer focus and skills in analysis of customer needs, combined with good communication skills. You are innovation and solution oriented and are used to work according to Agile and Lean principles.

It is a merit if you have previous experience of development of design calculation tools for use in engineering with focus on fluid mechanics, heat transfer or thermodynamics and /or if you are familiar with tool development related to machine learning and artificial intelligence. Knowledge in additional software skills such as Python, Java, FORTRAN, C/C++ as well as experience in agile working methods in close cooperation with users is also a merit.

Your responsibilities

Your main task will be to support and develop some of the advanced in-house calculation tools that are essential for the development of the core of our gas turbine products.

You will be involved in all steps of the design tool development process; from requirement specifications, understanding customer needs, software development, testing, implementation, as well as advanced user support. Everything in close cooperation with user representatives.

Your work will primarily consist of development, support, and maintenance of C3D - our inhouse design tool for 3D thermal modelling and structural mechanics of turbine blading.

We also see a need for more process integration and automatization both inside and between different disciplines, as well future usage of these models in systems such as digital twins, where real-world turbine usage is reflected digitally. This also opens possibilities for developing technology, based on artificial intelligence, in order to optimize engine operation, performance and lowering emissions.

Your opportunities for personal growth:

The need for tool development is large and there will both be opportunities to get involved in tool development to support for a multitude of different disciplines and you can get involved in projects where we implement new technologies such as AI and Machine Learning in our processes.

We also have an expert career with clear steps, and you can also get involved in development of tools that are needed to develop the energy solutions of tomorrow
