Sandvik Machining Solutions (SMS) is a business area within the Sandvik Group and a global market-leading manufacturer of tools and tooling systems for advanced industrial metal cutting. Products are manufactured in cemented carbide and other hard materials such as diamond, cubic boron nitride and special ceramics.

SMS' Global Production function is looking for a Tools Global Production Director, a key strategic position within the SMS' Production function. It targets the responsibility for the total performance of global tools manufacturing within SMS by its 2000 employees and 16 production units.

A significant and very important part of the role is to lead change and promote implementation of SMS' Production Strategy - 2018, in order to create cost leadership in the market and enable ambitious growth plans over the next five years. The strategy program will be the most important effort undertaken over the coming years and it will be important to clearly state the direction for the Tools organization and to see that stakeholders conform to the path set out.

The position will be placed in Sandviken or at one of the larger production units.

Key performance areas
Your main responsibilities will include to:
- Set the highest standard of environment, health and safety in all operations
- Create cost leadership
- Develop people, managers and organization and actively secure succession planning
- Ensure global production capacities and structure for tools manufacturing in line with strategy and our environmental footprint
- Follow up production performance in all aspects of costs, delivery, quality and productivity

As Global Tools Production Director you will have an important role in manage adherence by engaging people and organizations at all levels. This is a role in the SMS Production Management Team and will report to the Vice President for SMS Production.

The position involves frequent traveling.

Your profile
Ideally you have a background in manufacturing with previous experience from senior management positions. You have a clear and compelling vision of how to motivate improvements and are able to communicate this in an engaging way. Furthermore you have a proven ability to establish good working relations and stakeholder management. It is also important that you can direct change and enable strategy implementation. You act as a role model and interact with an open mind, showing good general- and people management skills in line with Sandvik leadership standards and expectations.
