We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars’ journey into the future.
About us
As Battery Cell CAE Engineer at Traction Batteries, you will be responsible to create analytic models for performance and life estimation of cells based on theoretical assumptions and experiences. We use the results to design HW and SW components of the battery in the increasing number of electric and hybrid vehicle projects. We use Python, MATLAB/Simulink, Comsol and similar tools.
We at PES (Propulsion Energy Systems) are now investing heavily in developing our analysis operations for traction batteries in terms of simulations and through developing our new battery labs. The analyses of traction batteries grow fast and challenges both VCC, battery suppliers and our OEM competitors.
Volvo Cars is on an ambitious journey when it comes to electrification and we are committed to putting 1 million electrified vehicles on the roads by 2025.
What´s in it for you
Your responsibilities as Battery cell CAE Engineer will include analyses and development of prediction methods for usage of batteries in close cooperation with colleagues within the traction battery ART, other engineers within VCC as well as suppliers of cells and modules.
What you will do
• Create analytic models for life estimation of cells based on theoretical assumptions and experiences
• Develop and calibrate empirical battery models such as equivalent circuit models, including developing and optimising test methods for model development
• Develop and maintain empirical ageing models based on lab test data
You and your skills
We believe you possess a Master of Science degree in chemical engineering, applied physics, mathematics or similar to qualify. A genuine interest and curiosity in the subject matter and excellent analytical and communication skills. The ideal candidate for the position has a strong background in analytical work preferably by modelling component or system behaviors with Python, MATLAB/Simulink, Comsol or similar tools.
