What you’ll do
As Design Engineer for Battery Electrical Hardware you will be designing components for the high and low voltage distribution system in the battery compartment. The system includes busbars harnesses, fuses, contactors, EMC capacitors & ferrites, isolators, fasteners, metallic brackets etc. Since you are working in an agile environment, you’ll develop not only technically but you’ll also develop your skills getting more T-shaped in other roles. In your work you will have support from the agile team including Scrum Master, Product Owner, Team Manager, and you will be designing battery components for both build-to-print and full-service-suppliers. The design is within one of the most challenging areas for the vehicle working not only with properties such as packaging and installation but also with cooling, insulation/arcing, EMC, electrical and other properties.
You and your skills
This position requires that you have experience from the design areas above and that you can contribute to both the team designs and our working methods. You have design experience from CAD-design in CATIA, NX or equivalent systems and is used to packaging work in narrow positions.
To be suitable for this position you need more than 5 years of design experience developing above components BtP for trains, trams, cars, trucks, busses, or similar applications. You also have a Bachelors or Masters degree within electrical area or equivalent work experience enabling you to dimension components considering properties such as EMC, arcing, thermal runaway etc. We believe you have gained your experience within the electrical vehicle industry.
In this position, you spend many hours in exciting discussions with different areas within Volvo Cars as well as suppliers. That’s why we believe that you have good communication skills and enjoys being in contact with a lot of people. With that said, there’s a lot to keep track of, which will be easy for you since you’re structured, organized and good with your priorities.
You have good skills in English, both spoken and written and since we produce cars, we believe you have a Driver’s license even though it’s not a must.
