What’s in it for you?
The Electric Driveline Department designs the heart of the Electric Car – the Electric Drive Unit that provides power to the wheels. We design electronics, electric motors, and transmissions with a high attention to sustainability and energy efficiency, aiming for world’s best electric drives.
We are now expanding our capability within Power Electronics design. We are therefore looking for a System engineer focusing on Functional Safety to join our high performing electronics system team at our Headquarters in Gothenburg.
What you’ll do
As a Traction Inverter Functional Safety HW Engineer you will be a central part of the System and safety team within Electric Driveline. You will focus on the Safety requirements and HW architecture on complete inverter level as well as breaking requirements down to specific design elements. You will work with the team´s Functional safety work products, such as the HW Technical safety concept, HW requirements & design specification. You will work on the evaluation of HW metrics and safe goal violations such as FMEDA and FTA as well as PMHF estimations, HW integration and verification analysis and Safety case collections.
You will work closely together with our design engineers to balance our design solutions to optimize attributes versus cost. You will also work together with important stakeholders, such as aspect attribute leaders, Functional Safety manager, SW engineers and complete drive train system engineers.
The Inverter System and Safety team is a new product team in which we build up our engineering capability to design inverter hardware. We are therefore looking for a person with ability to help to build the teams internal and external interfaces.
You and your skills
We believe you have a university degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering or similar. You have solid experience from System engineering and particularly from automotive Functional Safety aspects. You are very familiar with ISO-26262 applied to electronics HW development.
Knowledge in inverter Traction Inverter electronics and controls is preferred.
On a personal level, you are a highly motivated and reliable team player with a positive mind-set. You are used to taking initiative and like to share your passion and knowledge with others. Your also have an analytical way of approaching challenges, you enjoy being challenged and has a flexible mind-set
All Volvo Cars design work is carried out in Agile design teams. Being a team player with utilizing efficient Collaboration with team members and other stake holders is therefore a key enabler to be successful in the role.
