The position will be located in Västerås, Sweden.

Purpose of the job

The overall task for a mechanical design engineer at Drives is to convert the customer requirements into design solutions that can be manufactured in Drives manufacturing sites.
He/She will have competence in both design and strength analysis. The main tasks will be to make detail mechanical design of the Traction Motor and outline design of the complete Drive system. Secondly He/she will be a structural strength coordination engineer which includes tasks to specify/review larger structural strength calculations and perform smaller calculations task himself/herself.

Key responsibilities:

- Designs the physical and functional architecture of the train Drives system.
- Solves complex design and development tasks taking customer requirements, performance requirements, manufacturing possibilities, norms and standards into consideration. He/She takes decisions on how to design based on technical analysis of the problem.
- Performs product development tasks or projects to improve the product performance/cost/reliability (e.g. reduce noise and improve maintenance interval).
- Communicates internally and externally on complicated technical topics with important impact on the business (both with BT?s clients as well as his/her?s team members).
- Create concept 3D models.
- Makes simpler FEM simulations and specifies/reviews larger and more complex FEM tasks.

Qualifications:

- He/She will have a bachelor?s degree or higher education in mechanical engineering
- ~3 years of experience of structural strength calculations.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD is required.
- He/She will have strong communication skills and will enjoy innovation.
- Fluent English is mandatory, Swedish language is desirable. Other languages are beneficial.
