The Department for International Trade (DIT) is the UK Government organisation that helps UK-based companies to succeed in Sweden and other international markets. DIT also assists overseas companies to bring high-quality investment to the UK's economy.
The DIT team in Stockholm is currently looking to recruit a Trade Adviser. The main purpose of the position is to assist the volume of British companies and provide relevant information and chargeable services. In doing so this role will support the UK governments' ambition of 100k new exporters by 2020.

Roles and responsibilities:
- Support delivery of trade activity in Sweden (and Nordic/Baltic where appropriate) across various sectors.
- Ensure knowledge of sectors is up to date and ready to provide authoritative advice to a range of internal and external stakeholders. Developing and maintaining a national network of contacts in conjunction with colleagues. Deliver market entry activities commissioned by UK companies eg market research, event delivery and visit programmes for example.
- Identify leads and opportunities for British companies through research and contact development. Proactively engage with clients to ensure a match between Swedish business opportunity and UK expertise.
- Maintain and develop administration and routine tasks of a commercial department. Contribute to the wider DIT team, in particular its Director and Embassy team in Sweden.


Essential qualitifications and experience:
- University degree, Business/Economics or applicable subject.
- A self-starter, ability to multi task, able to organise self and work effectively.
- Ability to work effectively and supportively on shared objectives with colleagues.
- Networking skills.
- Understand and focus on customer needs.
- Good communication skills in both English and Swedish


Desirable qualifications and experience:
- 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Supply chain knowledge.
- Strong intercultural skills.
- Some Swedish sector knowledge would be an advantage.
- Good IT skills.
- Flexibility to travel domestically and to the UK.

This is a fixed term and full-time position. This is a 11 month rolling contract.
Swedish citizenship or permanent residence in Sweden i.e. registration with the population registry is required before starting the employment.
