Nasdaq is now looking for a Trading Surveillance Specialist to join our team in Stockholm. Trading Surveillance within Nasdaq works to keep our markets fair and efficient by implementing and upholding effective and well balanced regulations and enforcing our rules fairly.

This is an exciting opportunity for you who would like to combine your trading knowledge and data analytical skills together. You will be at the core of the market places where you will interact with issuers, trading participants, investors and regulators to build and preserve confidence in our markets. The Trading Surveillance team work closely together with our surveillance and compliance teams in Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Norway. The team performs real-time and post-trade analysis of trading in all asset classes across the Nordic market places that Nasdaq operates.
Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will be participating in forming regulations and practices, make important decisions to protect investors and to uphold orderly trading. This also includes identifying and reporting suspected market abuse and other forms of breaches of rules. As Trading Surveillance processes large amounts of data, you will also be working with data wrangling to detect and demonstrate potential market abuse. You will do this by analyzing alerts and manipulations over a longer period to identify patterns and trends. You should therefore, be comfortable working with large structured data sets using SQL and other data wrangling/munging technologies such as suitable libraries in R and Python. You will:
Perform real-time and continuous analysis of price movements, trading volumes, trading patterns and news around listed products.
Uphold orderly trading, intervene in trading when necessary and may be required to make decisions on e.g. trading suspensions or trade cancellations.
Help market participants avoid ending up in problematic situations by providing guidance to members and others regarding our practices in different contexts and how to comply with exchange regulation.
By understanding complex patterns, you will work together with the software developers in enhancing the current surveillance software.
We expect you to have
Degree in Finance or related field
A few years of experience from the financial markets with solid understanding of trading and investments with a strong interest in questions relating to fairness and surveillance.
Mathematical or statistical skills and proven experience of handling/analyzing large quantities of data.
Have the ability to grasp abstract concepts and transform them to intuitive concepts that are easily measured and explained to layman.
Comfortable with modeling and machine learning, including e.g. regression, classification, dimension reduction and manifold learning
Ability to handle stressful situations.
Highly analytical and possesses the ability to make quick decisions based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
Effectively communicates regulations and interpretations of market activity.
Excellent language skill in Swedish and English, both written and spoken.
