Job Description
What we would like you to bring to the table
As a Software Developer trainee you will be a part of creating digital solutions in Retail Concept Operations for the business areas IKEA Brand & marketing, Expansion, IKEA Retail Experience and MyLearning which is offered by us as franchisor to all IKEA Trademark users. The portfolio landscape is very broad and so is also the technology landscape so at our organization, you have the opportunity get your hands dirty with a limited set of the following “n00b-stuff” regular and graph (semantic) databases, Natural Language Processes, Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models, Machine learning, Data Science, Content Management Solutions, back-end for front end web engineering and also native mobile application development.
In addition to the work assignment we also offer a unique opportunity with a one year onboarding program together with other trainees in different roles and countries across IKEA, aiming to give you the best possible start in your IKEA journey. In the trainee program you will be able to get a deeper understanding of the IKEA value chain, business processes, tech challenges and opportunities, our culture and values and more.

Qualifications

Here’s what we’re looking for in our ideal candidate for this role:
Passionate about technology and strives to improve their work every day
Educational background within Engineering, Technical (Coding/Software) or equivalent and/or 1-2 years of work experience in the field
Enjoy working in an agile product development team and solving problem together
Good understanding that the consumer of a service are the kings and queens
Is enthusiastic about software coding in a green field Azure cloud environment using coding languages such as Node.js, React, Svelte, RDF, data bricks, Python and other
Understand the dogfood principle when DevOps is applied in our digital product and services
Motivated by de-coupling principles of code construction elements and API’s (microservices but also business API’s)
Relatively self-going and happy to be flexible in coding task to pick up and solve alone or in pairs
Not afraid to explain complex topics in front of others and take smaller informal leadership of areas of responsibilities
Give and receive feedback as a natural way of growing individually and as a group
A wish to grow with IKEA and to help millions of people look forward to going home
