The Role:
In this role as translational PKPD scientist/systems pharmacologist you will provide project teams with an understanding of the relationships between molecular drug properties, pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) responses as well make quantitative predictions of drug efficacy and safety in human populations. The projects that you will be supporting typically aim at developing inhaled and orally administered drugs for the treatment of respiratory, inflammatory and autoimmunity diseases.

Major responsibilities:
- Contribute to a vibrant and innovative working environment where improvements and new ideas are adopted and freely shared
- Define and deliver the preclinical, translational PKPD strategy for efficacy and safety, in projects from Target Identification to Life Cycle Management
- Design and model the results of preclinical PKPD studies and apply systems pharmacology approaches to make predictions of drug efficacy in patient populations along with recommendations of appropriate route of drug delivery, dose and dosing interval
- Make quantitative assessment and prediction of safety margins in human.
- Propose innovative approaches for improving therapeutic index by e.g. drug design, dosage formulation or combination therapies
- Deliver drug-drug interaction (DDI) predictions and risk assessments to project teams
- Work collaboratively with other functions as needed (e.g. bioscientists, translational scientists, safety scientists, clinical pharmacology and pharmacometricians)
- Prepare presentations related to the above for internal governance bodies
- Disseminate scientific achievements thorough conference attendance and preparation of manuscripts for research papers.

Key Deliverables:
- Deliver translational PK, PKPD and DDI elements to project teams within the agreed timelines and to the right quality.

Minimum Requirements:
- Track record of innovation and imaginative thinking
- Experience of working cross-functionally in a collaborative manner
- PhD or equivalent level of experience of modelling & simulation of biological systems such as PKPD
- Specialist user of some modelling and simulation tool such as NONMEM, WinNonlin/Phoenix, Matlab, SimCyp
- Mathematical and programming skills
- Strong skills in scientific writing and oral presentation
- Understanding of integrative aspects of DMPK and pharmacology/safety aspects of drug discovery and development.

Preferred Additional Requirements:
- Experience of PK or PKPD modeling of topically administered drugs (inhaled, sal, skin or eye).
- Background in systems biology
- Experience of modeling novel tissue targeting approaches
- Experience of PK or PKPD modeling of proteins, oligonucleotides or antibodies.
