Who are we?
Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future.
Since 1927, we have been a brand known for our commitment to safety, creating innovative cars that make life less complicated for our consumers. In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we’re expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we’re on the lookout for new talent.
We are constantly pushing our own skills and abilities to drive change in the automobile industry like never before. We are looking for innovative, committed people to join us in this endeavour and create safe, sustainable and connected cars. We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars’ journey into the future.

We are looking for an Experienced Troubleshooter within Embedded Systems to join our team of senior troubleshooters within ART Core System Platform in the SWEP Solution, which is part of our R&D organization. You will play an important part in making the car ownership a great experience by reducing the time spent waiting to get customer support.
Our focus is to find root causes behind challenging software related issues that are found in our new SPA2 platform. This is a centralized in-vehicle compute cluster. It is designed to host vehicle applications, reaching from basic vehicle state machines to advanced active safety and autonomous drive features.

What You´ll Do
As a troubleshooter in our team you need to be flexible and open minded. We dive into new kinds of problems most every day and that can include both software and hardware issues. Understanding code is required but finding the right team and to network across our organization is often the key to progress. Being collaborative, humble and curious is important to be successful in this role.

Some of us are software engineers with experience from C/C++ in an embedded development context, while some of us like to be more involved in performing hands-on fault tracing in cars onsite. This is where your individual experience and curiosity come into play. You will influence your days at work based on those. What we have in common so far is engineering and that we are comfortable in working in and around code. Let’s describe a few more areas that you may have experience from.

You might have:
•    good knowledge of an embedded OS and/or Linux / QNX / AUTOSAR
•    good knowledge of debugging common software problems like segmentation faults, race conditions, thread safety, performance issues, memory consumption issues, etc.

•    performed various testing with software or embedded electronics and enjoy making scripts to interact with systems

Qualifications
•    Troubleshooting experience beyond debugging code
