Umeå University - with its 33,500 students and over 4,200 employees - is an organisation in constant change and development.Umeå University conducts groundbreaking research within several areas - several in which we are among the best in the world - within others regarded as the leaders in Sweden.We are one of Sweden?s largest providers of education and offer a broad and attractive range of courses and programmes.Our campus constitutes an inspiring environment for everyone that studies and works here.We wish to co-operate with companies and organisations throughout the Umeå region and all over the world.Two Post-doc Positions (2 years) in Organic Chemistry Project description The Laboratories for Chemical Biology Umeå (LCBU) is an infrastructure that offers small molecule screening and chemistry support.LCBU is engaged in several projects at different levels.The candidates for the positions will work in a multidisciplinary team applying organic and medicinal chemistry to design and synthesize compounds.A primary goal is to establish structure-activity relationships in order to guide further optimization to reach potent compounds active in cell-based assays.Requirements To qualify for a position as post-doc you should have a PhD degree or equivalent, not more than three years old, in organic chemistry with focus on organic, bioorganic, or medicinal chemistry.You must be familiar with modern synthetic methodology and purification techniques, as well as characterization techniques including HPLC, LCMS, and NMR spectroscopy.The successful applicant should have good ability to write and speak in English, creativity, power of initiative, independence and ability to collaborate.Application The application should include: (i) a letter of intent, (ii) a certified Curriculum Vitae, (iii) information on previous education and publications and, (iv) other documents supporting your competence and suitability for the position.We also want e-mail addresses and phone numbers to two reference persons.The application may be written in English or Swedish and can be submitted either electronically (MS Word or PDF format) or in hard-copy form (two copies).For more information, contact Prof.Applications will be discarded or, if the applicant so wishes, returned two years after the position has been filled.Documents sent electronically should be in MS Word or PDF format.We look forward to receiving your application!
