Arbetsbeskrivning

Ref.No 315-652-09 Ref.No 315-653-09 Two Postdoctoral Fellows in Environmental Chemistry, 2 years The fellows will both work on a collaborative research project addressing the sorption and mobility of inorganic (ref.315-652-09) and organic pollutants (ref.315-653-09) in contaminated soils. The study is part of a multidisciplinary project which aims to develop remediation techniques for industrial sites with ongoing activities. The research will be performed in close collaboration with stakeholders, consultants and industry.By field- and laboratory studies the postdoctoral fellows will generate an understanding for the chemical processes governing the mobility and bioavailabity of contaminants in the soil. The work will involve characterisation of contaminants and the organic matter in the soil matrix, desorption kinetics studies, metal speciation and modelling of contaminant mobility. The positions are available from September 1, 2009.Requirements To qualify for the positions you should have a PhD degree or equivalent, preferably not more than three years old.Qualified candidates should preferably be experienced in field sampling as well as in relevant analytical techniques. The fellows will be based in Umeå, and are financed directly through personal stipends by the Kempe Foundations.315-652-09).You can also visit our homepage: http://www.chemistry.umu.se/english/research/?languageId=0.Application The application should include a CV with a list of references and university transcripts, and names with contact details of at least two references.Documents sent electronically should be in MS Word or PDF format. If you are applying to several positions with different reference numbers, you must submit a separate application for each position. We look forward to receiving your application!
