The e-Infrastructure Team at Chalmers e-Commons
The e-Infrastructure Team at Chalmers e-Commons operates, manages and further develops a modern and exciting large-scale computer system environment, delivering services for computing and data storage to researchers, research groups and collaborations both at Chalmers and nationally within the national e-infrastructure SNIC/NAIS. The work includes contacts and collaborations with other e-infrastructure service providers, research infrastructures and organisations nationally and internationally.
The employments presented in this advertisement will be part of an experienced team that manages and further develops several compute clusters, cloud and storage resources for research at Chalmers and within the national research infrastructure SNIC/NAIS. The resources are mainly Linux-based, and comprises technologies like OpenStack, CentOS, Cluster, Virtualization, Containers, HPC, IaaS, Cloud, Ansible, etc. The computer environment is modern and continuously developing to meet the demanding needs of research. Specific tasks and areas of development include:
• Operations of large-scale clusters, cloud systems and storage resources
• Planning and deployment of new Linux-based systems
• Development projects within technology-oriented and systems oriented user support
• Management and maintenance of large-scale computer systems
• Maintenance of systems- and application software
• Participation in development projects at Chalmers, within SNIC/NAIS and other collaborations
• Documentation of configuration and use of large-scale computer resources
Chalmers e-Commons works actively with developing the role of Systems Administrators in a research-based environment, providing an exciting and challenging work environment for the knowledgeable and ambitious computer expert.

Your qualifications
Academic degree in a relevant field in Science or Technology, or an equivalent experience and level of knowledge. Experience of research at PhD level, within or outside academia, is a merit.
Documented experience of management and operation of Linux-based computer systems in an R&D environment. Documented experience of use of large-scale computer resources for research and/or education is a merit. Documented experience of software development in programming languages like Python is a merit.
Good communication skills, both written and spoken, in Swedish and English. Experience in working both individually and in collaborative projects. Ability to create trust in collaborative projects. Experience in planning and executing projects and interest in your own personal development.
