About us
At Chief Rebel, we view ourselves first and foremost as game developers. We strive to have a game that is fun at all stages of development, so we work extensively in-game with design, prototype and play! How we work is just as important as what we do, we encourage different perspectives and solutions, and we believe passionate discussion is key to unlocking potential and creativity. Working together and collaborating are more important to us than status and title.
What you will do
We are looking for a UI/UX Artist who can do icons, tons of icons! Ability icons, icons for items, and icons for gear. That’s not all! We have a HUD which needs buttons, bars and menus that stay true to the project’s visual style. Together with the programmers you will set up functionality using Blueprints and share the responsibility of implementing your art into our game.
We value cross disciplinary collaboration, and you will work together with our Game Directors, UI/UX Designer and UX Programmers to regularly evaluate our game to determine the best way to deliver a top tier user experience. Together you are the UX team and are responsible for both front-end and in-game UI and HUD.
The game is our priority, and our work process reflects that. Our way of working is based on continuous iteration and feedback loops, so we frequently gather feedback from playtests to learn how our ideas work in the hands of the players. Your contribution is key and will be essential in shaping how our players experience the game.
What you will bring
You have a strong, hand-painted, illustration background with the ability to concept ideas and implement them. You will be responsible for ensuring that usability and the visual aesthetic in the User Interface and HUD build upon our project’s visual style. You have a passion for readability, consistency, clarity and iconography, and you take a holistic view to ensure a smooth player experience. You are also able to zoom in and execute, making sure all pixels are in the right place, bringing everything together for that satisfying feeling only a well executed interaction can give.
To succeed in this role, you need
- An artistic eye, and a sense for color and shape language
- Experience creating UI art (icons, buttons, etc) and verifying that they work as intended in the final product
- To communicate your ideas and research in a clear and understandable way
- To work in teams and communicate with designers, programmers and other artists
- To be open to others’ perspectives and welcome feedback
As a bonus, you have:
- Worked in Unreal, and know Blueprints
- Experience with shaders and material editor
- Shipped a game
We welcome you!
We base our recruitment process on equal opportunities, with no regard to race, religion, gender, national origin, age, sexual orientation, marital status, pregnancy, medical condition, disability.
