The UI artist at Arrowhead will be the collaborative influence responsible for creating UI assets for the studios’ current game project. The UI artist will act as a sounding board in collaboration with our feature teams to help shape the UI flow and layout of our game.
During development, you will consistently gather feedback from game direction and work to uphold the visual and UX direction of the current game project. In terms of design, you will be creating assets for several systems and features within development as well as designing menus, HUD-elements, splash screens, loading screens and many more. You will also have a key responsibility in designing and maintaining a cohesive iconography throughout the game.
Your contributions
- Create 2D art assets for the UI designs
- Design the UI for various systems and features
- Design assets for HUD-elements, splash screens, loading screens and menus
- Help design the games overarching iconography
- Maintain close communication with game direction on UI development
- Uphold the visual and functional consistency of the menus and HUD elements
- Uphold the studio design pillars - Believability, Sociality and Playfulness.
Our requirements
- 4 years game industry work experience from UI artist roles
- Experience working during final stages and shipping of titles
- Portfolio displaying strong 2D art and illustration skills
- Experience of independently bringing art assets from concept to implementation
- Great knowledge of UI design, with a good understanding of the UX perspective
- Good English communication skills (verbal and written).
Bonus qualifications
- Experience of scripting
- Experienced with UX design
- Experience shipping AAA titles
- Experience working with C++/C#
- Experience from a sprint workflow
More about you
We are looking for a person who wants to help develop the visual direction of our video games through constructive feedback and tight communication with their teammates. To thrive in this role, the UI artist should represent a positive driving influence which brings art assets from the concept stage to being fully implemented into the game. The games UI designs and assets will be sure to go through several iterations during the development, and as such it is important to be able to both give and receive feedback on a daily basis. Workflows as well as designs will go through iterations and be improved upon, therefore sense of structure and logic is vital to keep developing more efficient workflows and achieve more efficient processes during development.
Practical information
Scope: Full-time, 40 hours per week. Permanent position at the studio.
