The Position
Avalanche Studios is looking for a UI Programmer to join the Second Extinction team and help us build beautiful intuitive interfaces as we head the game out of Early Access and into a final launch product.
As a UI Programmer on this project you will join the UI team to work with designers and artists to conceive of and implement elements of how the game is presented to the player. Your work will involve working with game code to enable the UI Design and Art teams to create a compelling and fantastic UI.
Particularly for this role, it is critical that you see your responsibility as delivering a successful end-user experience, together with your team-mates, rather than just handing off technological solutions to content creators. Previous experience working with multiple systems and stakeholders is a definite advantage. Finally, as with any other programming role, you will have to be able to balance functional and aesthetic requirements with technical requirements in the areas of performance, stability, memory usage, interoperability.
Required Qualifications
- Experienced in C/C++
- Previously shipped games as a programmer on PC, console or mobile platforms
- Technical familiarity with Javascript, CSS and HTML
- Experience optimising your work for stability and performance
- Deep reverence for the principles of UI design
- An eye for good UX design
Beneficial Experience
- ActionScript/Scaleform experience
- Respectable technical art knowledge
- Experience in UI design
- Experience in frontend / web development
- Experience in any of the following Coherent, frontend, Javascript/CSS/HTML
