Arbetsbeskrivning
We're looking for a talented and energized UI/UX Lead with a passion for not only designing great-looking and accessible interfaces, but also driving UI/UX design standards and education throughout the studio to join Embark. We want someone who can take ownership of user interactions, starting with efforts on our first game project (a third-person cooperative action game) and growing to spread insights and best practices across all of our titles, helping to build a unified system approach while holding our teams to your excellent standards.
This role will require you to take on many different kinds of tasks with a tremendous amount of influence over our end-user experience. As such, you should be well-versed in user-centered design and have a profound understanding of effective system-oriented design as well as visual styling, thematic-yet-functional interfaces, and potential implications for our art/development efforts. On that note, you should possess artistic as well as design talent, and we'll be on the lookout for a degree of scripting knowledge for extra points - our hope is that you will understand the full value chain and can help prototype and visualize examples, drive best practices outside of our UI/UX design teams, and so on.
With all this in mind, you should, of course, have experience shipping games on platforms such as PC, console, and/or mobile and have a particular interest in live service free-to-play games. You should love playing and analyzing games, breaking their designs down and understanding the pros and cons of different design choices, and finally, you should be effective at communicating and collaborating with peers, making sure everyone feels like they can contribute to the design while holding onto the core intentions of each system and/or concept to ensure their spirits remain intact.
Example of responsibilities
- Lead UI/UX efforts on our first game project and drive their vision and best practices across our team
- Design, iterate, and unify UI/UX flows, systems, and themes both in and out of game sessions

- Create wireframes, interactive prototypes, and documentation that clearly convey ideas
- Sync with and effectively communicate designs to the product and design teams
- Work together with designers, engineers, artists, and UX researchers to develop game features
- Implement UX features in Unreal engine
- Guide, initiate, and assist in analyzing user tests on prototypes, other software, and conceptual ideas
- Level up UX understanding and skill at Embark, driving the discipline forward on a studio level
We would love if you have
- A creative and curious mind with a passion for games and user experience design
- Enjoyment of and passion for creative collaboration - you want to design and share with others!
- Background in live service free-to-play games, analytics, and A/B testing practices
- 7+ years of experience with a proven track record in UI/UX leadership and talent, preferably from the gaming industry
- Knowledge of using C++, Atom, blueprints, and a scripting language called Angelscript
- Fluency in English
