University lecturer in health and care sciences with a focus on clinical training placement coordinator
Institute of Health and Care Sciences
The Institute of Health and Care Sciences is at the forefront both nationally and internationally concerning person-centred care. Person-centred care is present in education, research as well as innovation. The Institute is organised according to academic areas made up by interdisciplinary profiles: Care in long-term conditions; The Life Context and Health Promotion; Diagnostics, Acute and Critical Care and Learning and Leadership for Health Care Professionals. The purpose of having academic areas is to integrate the Institute’s joint competence in order to promote quality in education, research and collaboration.
The Institute of Health and Care Sciences offers a number of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for nurses, radiographers, midwives and specialist nurses. The basic training courses for nurses and radiographers lead to a professional degree as well as a bachelor's degree. The training of midwives and the different courses for specialist nurses lead to a professional registration in combination with a master's degree. All professional programmes lead to a professional registration. Moreover, the freestanding courses are offered at an advanced level, offering the possibility to continue studying towards a master's degree in one of the Institute’s main subjects; nursing, reproductive and perinatal health, radiography and health care pedagogics. The Institute also offers the possibility to study for a PhD degree in Health Care Sciences.

Subject area description
Health and care sciences focus on the human’s experiences in relation to ill-health, disease and suffering, on one hand in relation to rehabilitation, maintenance and promotion of health and on the other hand in relation to the biological body and sociocultural structures. The human learning and the organisation of healthcare are central aspects of care research.
Job assignments
The position is placed within the section for Learning and Leadership at the Institute of Health and Care Sciences at the Sahlgrenska Academy. The position is a combination of operational and strategic work in relation to clinical training (VFU) as well as teaching duties.
As an employee at the Institute of Health and Care Sciences you will contribute actively towards achieving the Institute’s goals and adhering to the operational plan as well as participating in common meetings and activities at the Institute and the faculty.
The main part of the position requires the employee to work independently with the organisation of clinical training placements, fulfilling orders for clinical placements according to the agreement, conduct follow-up activities, and identify needs and to prepare for the future clinical placements. These placements take place in the county councils and communal healthcare, accidents and emergency care departments and the community care operations. You will be working in close collaboration with the vice Head of Department for Cooperation, the coordinator for education and the education programmes.
You are expected to actively participate in a number of forums where pedagogical issues concerning clinical training are discussed together with the Institute’s management team and other management groups from SU and the primary care sector. The activities involve a continuous contact with supervisors and students at the Institute, as well as informing and teaching pedagogical models connected to clinical training.
Part of the teaching activities include to apply a pedagogically structured approach when planning, teaching, performing summative assessments, evaluating clinical skills, engaging in simulation based teaching, inter-professional learning and performing administrative tasks related to the teaching duties. The work is performed in close collaboration with the Programme based teachers, clinically active supervisors and the administration team at the Institute.
Eligibility
Registered nurse. Second cycle studies in Nursing or Care pedagogics corresponding to at least a Master’s degree.
We require the applicant to have taken the course for supervisors and to have experience from supervision in a clinical environment.
A good command of Swedish and English, both in writing and speech.
