The Clinical Training Centre (KTC) at the Sahlgrenska Academy (SA) is a joint care ward for the faculty. It provides 5000 teaching hours for the students in our education programmes. We conduct teacher-led method teaching, simulation with a focus on care of acutely sick patients and teamwork, individual training for the students and interprofessional education elements. The students practice practical elements in a constructed real life care environment. This makes them well prepared for working life.
The Institute of Health and Care Sciences is at the forefront both nationally and internationally concerning person-centred care. Person-centred care is present in education, research as well as innovation. The Institute is organised according to academic areas made up by interdisciplinary profiles: Care in long-term conditions; The Life Context and Health Promotion; Diagnostics, Acute and Critical Care and Learning and Leadership for Health Care Professionals. The purpose of having academic areas is to integrate the Institute’s joint competence to promote quality in education, research and collaboration.

Subject area description
Nursing science involves developing the knowledge of health and how to have good life despite the existence of illness or disability. It also involves the study of a peaceful and dignified death. Nursing is based on the needs and problems related to health and ill health and to daily life, but also on people's resources and ability to handle problems.
Job assignments
The position is placed at the clinical training centre (KTC) at the Sahlgrenska Academy, part of the Section for Learning and Leadership for health professions.
The activities include planning and training students in CPR, as well as training them medical simulation. You will also be expected to contribute to the development of the teaching at the clinical training centre and actively work towards achieving the Institute’s goals and business plan. A major part of the activities consists of
administration related to the education programmes. In addition, it is expected that the employee participates actively in common meetings and activities at the Institute.
Other activities may also be expected, and the position may change over time.
The applicant is expected to teach in Swedish and English.
Eligibility
Regulations for the evaluation of qualifications for academic positions are given in the University of Gothenburg’s appointment system.
The minimum requirement is completed second cycle studies in nursing or care pedagogics, shown pedagogical expertise and qualification as a nurse.
Swedish registration as a qualified nurse is required.
We require the applicant to be able to speak and write in Swedish and English.
Assessment
Regulations for the evaluation of qualifications for academic positions are given in the University of Gothenburg’s appointment system.
First, we consider teaching expertise, second clinical expertise.
In the assessment of the candidate’s pedagogical skills, special emphasis will be placed on a high level of pedagogical competence including relevant teaching experience from the university and college sector. The assessment of pedagogical expertise includes planning, implementation, evaluation, supervision and summative assessments. The pedagogical expertise must be well documented to allow for an assessment of the quality.
The assessment of clinical expertise includes having a broad and long-term employment in the health care and acute care sector, including experience from teaching CPR. The clinical expertise must be well documented to allow for an assessment of the quality. Experience from medical simulation is an advantage.
Further, the candidate’s administrative and organisational ability will be considered.
Shown collaboration skills and flexibility in relations with groups of teachers and students has a great significance. Of further significance is also the ability to build relationships as the Department is following a person-centred approach.
Teaching will be in Swedish or English, thus a good knowledge of written and spoken Swedish and English will be required.
In this recruitment process, we will make an overall assessment of competence, expertise, and collaboration skills, with the purpose to employ the applicant with the
best conditions for conducting and developing the activities, collaborate with others and thus contribute to a positive development of the activities.
The applicant may be interviewed and asked to give test lectures before a decision regarding employment will be made.
Should the successful candidate not yet have a qualification in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, it is expected he/she participates in such a course within a year from the initiation of the employment.
