Nursing science
Subject area description
Nursing science involves developing the knowledge of health and how to have good life despite the existence of illness or disability. It also involves the study of a peaceful and dignified death. Nursing is based on the needs and problems related to health and ill health and to daily life, but also on people's resources and ability to handle problems. In nursing, it is not ill health / illness / disability per se, but people's reactions and interpretations of their illness that are in focus. Central to the subject of nursing is a close relationship between nurse, patient, and relatives.
