As a Senior Unreal Technical Artist you will create jaw-dropping real-time scenes for the coolest shows in the VFX business! You and the brand new real-time team we’re assembling, together with some of the most talented people from the VFX world, will push the boundaries of what is possible and take the merge of VFX and real-time to the next level.
You will work closely with people from different departments to determine creative and technical needs based on a brief from the Supervisor/Director. You will help ensure smooth adaptation of assets and workflows between VFX departments and realtime, assist in scene assembly, add realtime effects/mechanics and take the product to final. This will involve a wide variety of hands-on tasks in Unreal such as layout, shading & lighting, particle effects, blueprint scripting, game/navigation mechanics and creating setups. You will also lead the work of more junior artists as well as help train VFX artists that are new to Unreal.
Your work will include:
Work with artists from VFX departments as well as the Realtime team to translate a creative brief into a real-time product of the highest quality
Assembling and optimizing real-time scenes for performance and quality
A wide variety of real-time 3D generalist tasks and problem solving
Partake in coming up with ideas and solutions for workflow/tool improvements together with the VFX, Realtime, R&D and Pipeline departments in order to work more efficiently and effectively
Work on some of the coolest shows in the business with some of the most talented colleagues
You need the following:
Solid understanding of lighting, particle systems, post-processes, material setup, blueprint scripting and general workflows in Unreal Engine.
Knowledge of one or more DCC tools such as Maya, Houdini, Blender
Strong core understanding of general 3D asset creation and animation pipelines
Solid understanding of the realtime render pipeline
Strong analytical and creative problem solving skills
Ability to troubleshoot, optimize and reduce scene complexity with respect to quality as well as determine out-of-the-box solutions for complex technical requirements
Good sense for quality, both for what looks, feels and works right and how to take it to the next level
The ability to take ownership of your work and push it to world class standards
An organised way of working - creating scenes and structures that can easily be picked up by other people
Good communication skills
A humble and helpful attitude
Experience in the following areas are considered a plus:
Experience in virtual production pipelines for film or television
Experience in photogrammetry or other asset digitalization pipelines
Experience in motion capture or other virtual animation pipelines
Unreal Engine plug-in writing skills
General programming/scripting skills: C, C++, Python, Javascript
