User Experience Lead

Role Summary/Purpose
You will create a vision and a UX strategy for a cohesive user experience across Life Sciences, and provide strategic guidance on the portfolio level to that end. You will guide the global team of UX specialists (design researchers, interaction designers, human factors & usability specialists, design technologists, and visual designers) to establish and maintain high quality interaction design practices.

Essential Responsibilities

Develop and maintain a holistic vision of user experience across the portfolio and how it ties to the overall business user experience for evolving interfaces including mobile solutions.
Identify and share trends and methodologies relevant to user experience. Identify skill gaps in the organization, define training programs to evolve the organization to a world-class UX org, coach and mentor UX practitioners.
Effectively partner with product management, R&D, and other internal stakeholders to provide strategic guidance on individual product initiatives, UX resourcing, and ensure programs receive appropriate UX support. Maintain close collaboration with internal specialists groups in GE Healthcare.
Lead the creation of design research and interaction design deliverables such as journey maps, scenarios, site maps, user interaction models, low- through high-fidelity prototypes, and visual design assets.
Lead the customization and curation of the Life Sciences Software design system, and support the adoption of the design system across the organization.

Qualifications/Requirements

Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Industrial Design or closely-related field
Very strong combined professional experience applying user experience methods toward product design.
Demonstrated leadership experience either in line or project leadership.
Demonstrated expertise in applying design research methodologies such as contextual inquiry, focus groups, and interviews.
Demonstrated expertise in applying interaction design and human factors methodologies such as discovery research, usability studies and creating assets such as research findings, journey maps, personas, scenarios.
Familiarity with integrating user-centered design techniques within an Agile development environment
A strong practical understanding of design and product development, experience working with design systems.
Strategic thinker with an innovative spirit, strong and decisive communicator
Team player and collaborator with a positive attitude
Excellent conceptual, problem-solving and oral/written communication skills
Able to travel up to 35% (Domestic and International). Strong intercultural communication.

Desired Characteristics

Experience in designing for the consumer electronics, mobile applications, and healthcare/medical devices domains.
Track record of creating intellectual property
Familiarity with design control and regulatory practices and standards for medical devices
