Development engineer at The Loop Factory
The Loop Factory is a purpose-driven innovation company focusing on developing sustainable material and technology solutions for the future. Job summary
As a development engineer you will be part of our team acting both as a material specialist as well as leading and initiating projects and collaborations. Your role will also include practical work as you will take part in running trials in our pilot and prototype lab. Our focus is renewable and/or recycled fibre materials and we collaborate with partners and customers in different branches like textile, construction, and packaging.
Main responsibilities
• Material and technology development as well as product development.
• Actively monitor and seek out new material innovations linked to our projects.
• Practical development work in our pilot and prototype lab.
• Run, plan, document and follow up own projects and support other project managers with your specialist areas.
• Participate in the work of supplementing our machine park with relevant equipment.
• Participate in sales and development of new collaborations.
Skills and characteristics
As a person, you like to collaborate and find solutions where others see problems. You are curious and happy to share your experiences, and at the same time want to learn from others. You are motivated to work in a startup environment and enjoy having a varied job where you one day act as a support for applied experiments in our lab, and the next day develop collaborations with key partners or lead innovation projects. You are purpose-driven and have a passion for sustainability.
Qualifications
• Educational background with a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in engineering related to materials, textiles, chemistry or mechanical engineering, or acquired knowledge through work experience.
• At least 3 years of documented professional experience from materials-, technology and/or product development, preferably in connection with collaborative projects.
• Fluent in written and spoken English, Swedish is an advantage
• Skills and experiences from project management and projects connected to applied development of textile materials as well as networks is a plus (both publicly funded projects and customer projects)
You are result-oriented, reliable and have good communication and interpersonal skills. You are proactive, possess the ability to take initiatives and enjoy working both independently and in teams. You also understand the meaning and enjoy working in a young and fast-moving organization where co-learning and knowledge sharing is key to success.
