ARE YOU READY?
Are you passionate about imagining and influencing the future through design? Do you want to be in the forefront of the transportation industry – creating new products, services and digital solutions for our customers? Are you intrigued by the possibilities of automation and electromobility? And do you thrive in an environment where you are surrounded by designers from all corners of the world? If so, Volvo Group Design is the place to be.
We are now looking for more brilliant UX Designers at different levels of seniority to join our design team located in Lundby and Lindholmen, Gothenburg, Sweden.
This is us, your new colleagues.
Volvo Group Design is the design function for the Group’s brands and business areas. The team provides design to products, digital solutions and services from the three studios located in Gothenburg, Sweden, Lyon, France and Greensboro NC, US.
We offer you opportunities to work with all business areas under the Volvo brand: Volvo Trucks, Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Penta, Volvo Buses, Volvo Autonomous Solutions, Volvo Energy and Volvo Financial Services.
The User Experience team within Volvo Group Design is growing. We are more than 50 skilled UX, UI, Service Designers and Front End Developers today, but need more colleagues to join us to deliver on the Volvo Group vision: to be the most desired and successful transport and infrastructure solution provider in the world!
What do we offer?
As a UX Designer in Volvo Group Design you work closely with our business and delivery partners, translating business, technology and customer/user requirements into value adding, delightful and brand distinct concepts, designs and solutions. You will have the ability to both deep dive in different types of user needs and work across a broad range of digital channels and touchpoints over time.
With us you get to experience how it is to work in a creative design studio, but also close to developers in an agile setup. You collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams to innovate, design, prototype, test and develop the design concepts all the way to final implementation for HMI, apps and web etc.
You will play an important role in translating core brand messages in the execution. You will be tasked with securing consistent UX, interaction and visual treatment of elements and components across products and services, considering a cohesive and holistic brand and customer experience. Apart from brand distinct design, our UX design team is also responsible for developing state-of-art UX platform solutions, supporting consistent, user-friendly interfaces for all Volvo Group brands.
At Volvo Group Design you will work with skilled and passionate colleagues in all areas of design to bring premium products and services to the market.
Who we believe you are.
To be able to thrive in this position, we believe that you have a strong customer and user focus, a keen interest in the transportation industry, and that you are curious and willing to pursue a deep understanding and continuous learning. Since we are working in the cross section between business, design and technology, the ability to identify business value and secure compatibility with technical requirements and dependencies are also important aspects of the role.
We see that you are a team player that enjoys motivating and supporting others, as well as being able to work independently. In this position it is crucial to build partnerships and collaborate with others to meet shared objectives. That is why we appreciate if you have good cross functional collaboration skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and requirements.
Furthermore, you will of course have a good understanding of UX and the process from research to visual design, development, user testing, and customer evaluation. We also see that you have knowledge of interaction design patterns and applications within different contexts (i.e. vehicle, mobile, web, etc.), and that you are familiar with design processes, creative methods and tools in general, and Figma in particular.
As you will be working in an international setting, it is important that you are fluent in English, both spoken and written.
Other important competencies for the position:
Minimum BA/MSc or equivalent degree in Interaction Design or a related design discipline, and between 2 to 10+ years of industry design experience.
Good communication and presentation skills.
Aesthetic skills proven in portfolio.
We also value understanding and experience of agile/SAFe and technical platform frameworks such as Android Automotive OS, QT, web, Android/iOS, Salesforce and design system best practices. This would be considered a merit.
Further information:
In this position you will report to one of our Group Managers within Volvo Group Design User Experience and be placed in Gothenburg.
