Arbetsbeskrivning
Do you want to be part of creating a multiplayer digital playground for kids to hang out in and play together?
As our next UX Designer, and the first full time one on this project, you’ll be part of a growing game team in delivering our most ambitious project yet - Toca Days - a friendly multiplayer world for children where they can feel safe, creative and be able to express themselves.
You will create a super fun, intuitive, smooth and playful experience for kids. You will literally bring smiles to children around the world. How can anyone resist!?
What you’ll be doing
Your days and weeks will include anything from working closely with play designers to create your own UX flows for new features. You might spend an entire day with a developer perfecting an interaction, or zooming out for big picture discussions like “how will shopping in the grocery store work?”. You will also run workshops with the team, present proposed solutions to issues or review playtest results.
In this project you will work with Toca Boca’s classic free form and intuitive interaction design while also applying it to more classical game elements such as progression and communication systems. It’s a great chance at being part of forming the future UX language for Toca Boca apps and products.
You’ll provide UX knowledge, best practices and solutions to various areas of the game, designing logic wireframe flows and layout of UI menus as well as accessibility features. You’ll ensure consistency in UX/UI across the game and advocate for usability and simplicity in interactions.
Is this you?
You are a UX Designer with experience from working with touch screens devices and/or at a games studio. You have strong technical understanding and previous experience working with a game engine. We use Unity, you might have worked with a different one.
You are passionate about, and feel responsible for, the player experience and driving features forward. You are open to feedback and the perspective of others and love to collaborate with various people, and roles, in your team. Of course you also deliver your own feedback in a constructive and friendly manner.
You are adaptive in your ways of working, making a prototype to explain a concept feels as natural to you as working closely with a developer to tweak the HUD in a very practical way . You document your design and decisions in a pedagogical and understandable way.
What we’ll be looking for in portfolio
We want to see a portfolio with some real games that you’ve worked on and we are interested in learning more about your design process, what problems and challenges did you solve? What was your role in the project and what were your key learnings?
We are also happy to see unfinished design ideas, alternatives you investigated as well as personal projects. Previous work with kids as target audience is of course interesting too.
