Who are we?
Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future.
Since 1927, we have been a brand known for our commitment to safety, creating innovative cars that make life less complicated for our consumers. In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we’re expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we’re on the lookout for new talent.
We are constantly pushing our own skills and abilities to drive change in the automobile industry like never before. We are looking for innovative, committed people to join us in this endeavour and create safe, sustainable and connected cars. We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars’ journey into the future.
Why now?
Volvo Cars is on an ambitious journey to redefine what it means to give people freedom to move in the most disruptive time in the mobility industry. Volvo Cars is looking to redefine most aspects of its digital ecosystem - from the vehicle itself, to how it is owned, driven, powered and purchased online. Volvo Cars' UX organisation is central to its strategy to put user experience at the centre of everything we do.
The Daily Usage UX teams focus on usage of Volvo within and beyond the car. Key areas include activation, onboarding, energy management, remote functions and owner experience.
The UX manager role
As UX manager, you will manage a growing team of UX designers and collaborate with stakeholders across Commercial Digital and R&D organisations to drive impact.
You will represent the Everyday Experience team efforts across the broader UX organisation and Volvo Cars leadership. Together with with teams and leaders in other verticals, you will evolve your team culture and impact, managing day-to-day challenges the team faces.
You will improve the overall quality of our customer experience by directing embedded designers, advising researchers and content strategists within the wider product area. You will continue to create an inclusive, safe environment for our team where failure and learning are invited, and diversity and fun are celebrated each day while we solve complex challenges. You will also be involved in the creative direction of projects that your team are working on. This would involve defining complexity into suggested action, establishing best practices, and generating clear and concise actions to push for thoughtful outcomes.
As a direct partner of the leadership group for the associated product cluster, the UX manager together with the leaders in product and engineering will form the leadership trio, covering these 3 key function areas for every successful product. You will represent Daily Usage UX initiatives with compelling communication to Commercial Digital & design stakeholders and often executive leadership at Volvo Cars.
Who are you?
We believe you have experience collaborating and managing stakeholders across product & engineering, while being a effective voice for user needs and the end user experience. You have experience leading or managing groups of UX designers, researchers & content strategists to deliver complex omni-channel digital products within a world-class product organisation. You have an excellent track record as a Designer with at least 10 years of experience with mobile, web and other HMI design. You have direct experience incorporating data and insights into the design process.
We believe you would also have these additional qualities:
* Empathy and strong traits for successful people management, such as being motivated by seeing others grow.
* An ability to define and deliver results according to metrics and to delegate effectively.
* An ability to synthesise complex problems and tailor narrative towards different audiences.
* Good understanding of advantages and disadvantages of platformization and centralisation.
* Knowledge of the ins and outs of platform guidelines (Apple HIGS and Google Material) and ability to evaluate and articulate why/when to follow these or deviate from them
Location Based in Stockholm or Gothenburg, this UX manager (Daily Usage) role has direct reports in both cities, so occasional travel is required. International candidates are welcome! We have a team that helps with relocation, but remote work is not a preferred option for this role.
