UX Research Lead
At Epidemic Sound we are reinventing the music industry. Our carefully curated catalog, with over 35,000 tracks, is tailored for soundtracking content. Our customer base covers everyone from Youtube influencers soundtracking their videos, Agency creators soundtracking their clients work, all the way up to major tv/movie studios or stream platforms looking for music and sound effects for their productions.
Epidemic Sound’s UX research team is scaling rapidly to enable us to arm our product teams and the organization with the insights it needs to make beloved products that enable our customers to soundtrack their stories no matter who or where they are.
Reporting to the Director of Central Design the position is located at our HQ in Stockholm.


How you will make an impact
As UX Research Lead, your focus is to drive a deeper understanding of the reality of the content creators using our products across different touchpoints and within a wider creator ecosystem from a qualitative perspective.
Focused primarily on leading qualitative research, the work will involve a mix of tactical and strategic methodologies across the arc of UX research from planning & conducting to synthesis and insights as part of our specialist group in Experience Design.


We are a team that refuses to let research sit on the shelf and not be used. As such you will also be involved in efforts to continue to evolve our research activation strategies to ensure insights are not only delivered but deeply understood by product managers, designers and leaders to ensure their decisions are customer-centric and data driven.


What You Will Do
Lead investigations into complex and/or ambiguous B2B problem spaces that have strategic impact on our product experience.
Identify strategic opportunities ahead of the current known roadmap to inform product strategy and visioning with C-suite and executive leadership
Coach, review and feedback work of other researchers and product designers for research planning, synthesis and storytelling
Work closely with the Product & Design Leadership across domains to deliver timely and relevant research insights to change our roadmaps and product strategy.
Work with other insights professionals internally to find opportunities for collaboration in order to bring more robust insights through triangulation
Coach & mentor researchers, designers and stakeholders in the collecting and analysis of research findings.
Participate actively in Experience Reviews



Research responsibilities:
Employ different research methods to obtain insights and lead the execution of research projects while collaborating with a cross-functional team. Research should consist of a mix of problem validation, foundation research and strategic research projects.
Generate insights that shape how product teams think about short and long-term product strategy
Work with other insights professionals internally to find opportunities for collaboration in order to bring more robust insights through triangulation
Together with the team identify opportunities to inspire product strategy, and encourage design & research iteration.



Leadership responsibilities:
Identify gaps and solutions for future growth of research practice in collaboration with design leadership
Collaboration with Experience and Product Design Leads across domains to provide timely and relevant research insights for improving product experience
Contribute to the the quality of the research team, including coaching, giving feedback and their growth as ICs
Deliver business impact by advocating for the user in key business decisions within OKR planning.
Build relationships with Product managers to understand their teams’ strategies and help ensure research is being prioritized within the development process.



Other:
Demonstrate, explain, and teach non-researchers how to apply a range of research methods (e.g. marketing team)
Propose and implement solutions that will enable the entire team to work more efficiently. including toolkit or processes
Actively contribute to the UX Research team culture





Who You Are
We believe you are a seasoned UX research leader with a track record of delivering truly insightful and impactful research outcomes. You act as an expert in research processes and methodologies from planning, fielding, analysis and delivering insights with product organization. Furthermore, you’re a clear and confident communicator who is comfortable with conducting different types of research, storytelling, creative facilitation and presentation. Last but not least, you are an inspiring, strategic collaborator who loves working with others and helping them connect the dots.




We believe you have:
Deep knowledge in planning, conducting, synthesizing, and sharing insights from a range of different moderated and unmoderated methodologies and practices.
Experience working in a complex, fast-moving product organization
Experience with B2B/Enterprise research would be highly desirable
Proven track record of having significant impact on product and business outcomes with research activities
Excellent communication and storytelling skills, experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with various stakeholders
Experience mentoring more junior team members, as well as stakeholders
Very comfortable with planning, conducting, synthesizing, and sharing insights
Fluent in English, verbal and written
Experience working with a global customer base, across multiple languages would also be highly desirable
