Vacancy at the South African Embassy
Position: CONSULAR CLERK
Available: 1 March 2022

Main duties:
- Consular and Agency Services - Provide information about civic and immigration laws, policies and procedures, processes documentation: Facilitate the applications for entry of persons travelling to South Africa by assisting to administer visas, permits, passports and residency applications. Deal with enquiries according to South African civic and immigration laws and policies.

- Dealing with South African Citizens abroad: Assist with enquiries from citizens in distress and in detention in countries of accreditation, and certain legal matters of a consular nature; maintain a database of details of South Africans living abroad, Assisting in liaising with local authorities with regards to South Africans in detention.

- Service Delivery - Making clients and their needs a primary focus of work and actions. This includes clients from all countries of accreditation and South Africa; Respond and provide information to telephonic and written consular enquiries on immigration and civic laws, policies, and procedures.

- Office Administration: Prepare statistics on face value applications and enquiries; Maintain document storage and retrieval systems and apply archive procedures; Provide relief service to the Receptionist and perform all other ad hoc duties assigned to the post.

Requirements:
A minimum of 12 years schooling is required PLUS 3 years' experience in a related field of work with proficiency in computers. Prior experience in an Embassy will be an advantage.

- The ability to function effectively in diverse conditions; have a sense of urgency; takes initiative and shows courtesy/diplomacy at all times, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Demonstrate the following competencies/skills: diplomacy, communication, translation and interpretation, networking, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Give immediate attention to customer complaints and queries; handle complaints and queries in a way that will ensure that problems do not reoccur. And shows courtesy, openness, transparency in own day-to-day work; make excellence in service delivery a way of life.

- Accounting and administration experience is a plus.
- Computer literacy essential (Microsoft Office computer programmes: Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- 100% Fluency in Swedish and English.
- Knowledge of Latvian/Lithuanian/Estonian/Finnish will be an advantage.
- A valid police report with no criminal record required.
- Non-Swedish nationals need to have a valid permanent residency permit - submit proof when applying.

Salary Package:
Starts from SEK 249 563 to SEK 308,646 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience). An annual bonus equal to one month's salary as well as holiday pay at 0.43% of the annual salary is also payable.
