VACANCY- HOUSEKEEPER
OFFICIAL ACCOMMODATION, OF THE AMBASSADOR OF SOUTH AFRICA IN SWEDEN
The South African Embassy is seeking to recruit a housekeeper for the Official Accommodation of the Ambassador. This is a full-time position, subject to a probationary period and will start as soon as possible.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The precise range of duties will vary over time but will include the following:
. Perform tasks in the Official Accommodation of the Ambassador
. Care and management of all state assets in the Official Accommodation, including representational crystal, silver, china, linen and other items;
. Maintenance and upkeep of the Official Accommodation inventory;
. Ensure smooth running of official events at the Residence, including logistical set up for official events and post event tidy up;
. Daily meal preparation for the Ambassador;
. Service at official dinners, lunches, receptions and other events;
. Day to day shopping
. Supervision of the Official Accommodation premises;
. Full range of cleaning tasks and laundry;
. In the absence of the cleaner, the housekeeper must perform the duties
. First line maintenance and liaison with the Secretary of Ambassador on maintenance issues arising;
. Liaison with contractors and suppliers at the Official Accommodation;
. Any other duties as required.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS CANDIDATES MUST BE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE:
. 5 years' minimum experience working in housekeeping and hospitality;
. Fluency in English and Swedish;
. All applicants must have a legal right to reside and work in Sweden.
. Position may require out of hours work in evenings/at weekends (leave time-in-lieu will be offered for this work) and individuals unavailable to work out-of-hours should not apply for this post.
. High degree of integrity and trust.
. Strong organisational and management skills; and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
. Reliable and can work on own initiative;
. Attention to detail;
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
. Customer service experience;
. Experience working for an Embassy or international organisation.
. 2 years' minimum experience working in hospitality;
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
. The successful candidates will be hired on an initial fixed term contract in line with the duration of the Ambassador's tenure in Sweden;
. Monday to Friday, 37,5 hours per week;
. The annual starting salary will be from 226 418 SEK and will depend on the experience, education and skills.
. Additional benefits are a 13th month bonus, holiday pay, occupational pension and a monthly meal allowance. Salaries are paid direct to a bank account, therefore, the successful candidate must have a bank account;
. The position will require sometimes out of hours work in the evening/at weekend and this will be agreed upon in advance.
. The contract will be subject to the relevant provisions of Swedish Labour Law in regard to tax, labour and social insurance.
. The position is for a locally recruited person and there is no entitlement to civil service status within the South African government service.

Selection Process:
. Depending on the number of applications received, a short-listing of candidates to be called for interview may be undertaken based on the Essential/Key Requirements above;
. A skills test may form part of the interview process;
. It is planned that interviews will be held in the first weeks of December 2024.

Police security clearance will be sought in respect of individuals who come under consideration for appointment. Enquiries may also be made with the police force of any country in which the applicant, under consideration for appointment, resided.
