The primary responsibility of the VAT Accountant will be the management of Vestas Northern Europe?s compliance with the Indirect Tax accounting and reporting requirements for Northern Europe entities. Additionally, you will be a partner with the Finance team to implement processes and/or tools, as appropriate, to optimally manage VAT?s financial impact to the company (i.e., minimizing fines and penalties; maximizing relief/recovery). The VAT Accountant will also support the Group Tax with VAT audit requests and other inquiries from the local taxing authorities. You will establish and maintain strong relationships with the Global Tax and Vestas Northern Europe Finance teams to help effectively address business issues.
You will be part of the Reporting & Compliance department, part of Vestas Global finance which covers the reporting of all entities in Northern Europe & Manufacturing entities, with local accounting teams in Poland, Sweden & Denmark. The team consists of both accounting & business performance people.
Responsibilities
Support the management and execution of activities designed to ensure Vestas Northern Europe?s compliance with European VAT accounting and reporting requirements.
Scandinavia - DK, SE, FI & NO
Europe - ES, CZ, PL, DE
Ensure every VAT registered entity in Europe is VAT compliant.
Extract, Validate & submit VAT declarations on a monthly basis.
Manages data for key reporting to Global Tax, Europe Finance and/or other Global Finance groups.
Engages local advisors or Internal VAT specialists to consult on VAT compliance obligations.
Keep abreast of changes in European VAT legislation and where planning opportunities arise, participates in their analysis and implementation.
Reviews, updates and supports Vestas systems with regards to the application of VAT
Identifies and makes recommendations to optimize VAT compliance processes.
Performs analyses and documentation for correct VAT reporting
Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
Qualifications
The successful candidate has:
3-5 years' experience with similar responsibilities within a multinational firm
Accounting education
Previous experience with SAP & Mapics / XA
Solid working knowledge of the VAT reporting or have a major interest of the area
Comprehensive understanding of VAT accounting and working within a General Ledger.
Competencies
Recognized Accounting qualification required
Analytical and detailoriented
Fluency (oral and written) in English and Danish required.
Advanced Excel skills desirable.

Additional information
The primary work location is in Malmö, Sweden.
Minor travelling must be expected (5-10 days per year)
