Vehicle Dynamics Analyst and Integration Engineer

Vehicle Dynamics Analyst and Integration Engineer

Arbetsbeskrivning

Ready to shape tomorrow’s society together with us?

Are you a curious engineer with product development experience and background within vehicle dynamics modelling? Your work and contribution will be the foundation that changes the transport industry to something safer, more productive and with less environmental impact!

This is what we do at Volvo Autonomous Solutions (V.A.S): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-TOCGC6Uuc

This is how you can make an impact

As Vehicle Dynamics Analyst and Integration Engineer you will take on the task of developing and integrating vehicle sub-models into complete vehicle plant models for both trucks and machines. The models typically include mechanical and hydraulic sub-components superimposed with vehicle motion control functions. We target to have our reference model library in the Modelica language but depending on user needs other modelling environments will also be supported.
You will work closely together with the users to identify improvements and new needs to support the verification and validation work in the V.A.S organization. Since simulations are used for verification of software that needs to comply with high integrity requirements the models should be state-of-the-art within its use.

This is us, your new colleagues at Volvo Autonomous Solutions:

Our team, the Vehicle Controls & Motion Models within the V.A.S. Technology organization, is responsible
for the vehicles in V.A.S. autonomous customer solutions. The vehicle types include machines, trucks,
trailers and safety systems. It is our responsibility to ensure that the vehicles can be operated by the end user in an efficient and safe manner. Together with Volvo Construction Equipment (VCE) and Volvo Group Trucks Technology (VGTT) we interact closely to secure base machine and truck readiness. We take part in all life cycle phases, from the early specification and development phases throughout the maintenance and quality phases during customer operation.

We are yet a small but passionate and effective team that is stronger than the sum of its parts and ready to tackle the challenges we have ahead of us. We are now looking for a new colleague to join us in our endeavor to create customer solutions that enhance safety, flexibility, and productivity.

Who are you?

As you will be working with new technology, it is preferable if you have experience in product development
within relevant engineering areas. It is also important that you enjoy working with new technology and take
part in continuously improving our ways of working. You will work with different cultures cross functionally and with internal as well as external stakeholders. We therefore value that you have good interpersonal and communication skills. Being fluent in English, spoken and written, is also important to succeed in this position. Other requirements that we also see as beneficial for the role are:
Experience from vehicle dynamics modelling
Knowledge about C or C++ programming, Linux environments and Python programming
Experience from working in a continuous integration environment with automated tools for testing and deployment
Experience from the Modelica language and the Functional Mock-up Interface (FMI)
Experience from model validation work towards measured data

We are actively working to establish teams that will take advantage of the strength inherent to differences in knowledge, experience, age, gender, and nationality, among others. We find that well balanced work teams increase group dynamics, creativity, and new approaches to solutions.

Ready to shape tomorrow’s society together with us?
